— Schwab Intelligent Portfolios Customer
Understanding Customer Needs and Obstacles
The Intelligent portfolios customer journey map was created to visualize the steps a customer moves through as they strive to meet financial goal(s).
Early Wire Frames
Initial wires presented retirement saving and retirement withdrawal together.
UX Team and Product Owners discovered during some collaborative rapid prototyping that this approach was too complex. Later versions of the interaction wires would show Retirement Saving and Retirement Income as two separate states.
Low Fidelity Process
Explored a couple different interactions for goal setup. A horizontal meter to communicate confidence and progress against a goal seemed simpler at first. However after some exploration the product owner and UX agreed the best way to communicate the details of future return scenarios visually, was with a Monte Carlo simulation chart.

Conversational Goal Set-up
Setting up a goal can be more conversational. Customers may enter data by speaking and automatically be advanced through the form on their mobile device. Making it much easier to input data.
